Marta Topferova is a multi-lingual singer/songwriter that has been heavily influenced by Latin American folk music. Her “Trova” band features original songs as well as folk songs rooted in rhythms such as the Chilean cueca, Venezuelan vals, Cuban son and the Puerto Rican bomba, and is comprised of Venezuelan cuatro, Cuban tres, accordion, bass and percussion and some of the tastiest players in New York: Aaron Halva on the tres and vocals, Pedro Giraudo on bass and vocals, and Neil Ochoa on percussion.
The BBC has called Marta “a leading light of the nueva canción movement of today” and her six releases demonstrate that she is not only a gifted singer, but a prolific composer. Marta has toured Europe, the US, Thailand and Argentina, and been featured on many radio and TV programs around the world, including NPR, BBC, ARTE TV (France), Radio 3 (Spain), Radio W (Colombia), and Radio Palermo (Argentina).
