This Brooklyn based collective of musicians dedicated to making the dance floor happen will sure make Terraza’s floor and hanging stage tremble with their ferocious cumbias. The party that Cumbiagra brings to Terraza goes on until early morning. One cannot miss a nonstop dancing experience like this one.
Though Cumbiagra is largely inspired by the Colombian dance style known as cumbia, their music has developed into a unique synthesis of styles, drawing on the diversity of it’s members and the rich musical environment in which they live. A typical Cumbiagra set might start with a slow, dirty cumbia, dip into a kinky reggae, then explode into a scorching merengue-ska, or a sexy salsa, before returning to their infectious cumbia style. Whatever they are playing, it is sure to please.
